For the past few weeks, special subscriptions have been available on our forums here at TERAblah.com. Thanks to the efforts of early adopters, most (if not all) of the kinks have been worked out and now we feel it's time to officially announce this darn thing!

First of all, what the heck are "subscriptions" all about, anyhow? Let's make it clear: TERAblah.com isn't asking you for money before you can access anything on our humble fansite. TERAblah.com's content is completely free to anyone and everyone who visits. You'll never have to pay to see an article in our news system or discussion on our forums.  A lot of people are wary of any website that asks its users to pay before accessing something, and we understand that. We don't like that system either, so we'll never adopt it.

Why does TERAblah.com need subscriptions in the first place? TERAblah.com is funded out-of-pocket by a single person, Mark Wilhelm, not a huge company with a hundred employees and millions of dollars in the bank. Mark Wilhelm is a college student. The server TERAblah.com (and other websites, like AionTube.com) runs on costs around $50 a month to rent. We've tried asking for "donations" before, back on AionBlah.com, but that didn't turn out too well (due to a lot of factors, mostly the way Invision Power Board is set up). With vBulletin-type subscriptions, TERAblah.com can offer donators an awesome package of extras! That way we feel like we're making a fair trade: people help keep their favorite TERA Online fansite alive by purchasing cheap subscriptions and we give them a symbol of our thanks in return.

Now that we've got that out of the way, think of TERAblah.com's subscriptions as the frosting on corn flakes, or the glaze on a doughnut. It's not the main product, but it makes the main product sweeter. TERAblah.com's subscriptions allow regular users to have even bigger signatures and avatars, a customizable user title, more private messages in their inbox, no ads (ever), and access to the bandwidth-sucking shoutbox (for gold subscribers)! All that for $1 a month (silver subscribers) or $2 a month (gold subscribers).
